There is little doubt that "Doctor Strange" will deal with how Benedict Cumberbatch eventually becomes the Sorcerer Supreme. But will Stephen Strange's backstory also reveal how he ended up with the Eye of Agamotto? Is the amulet part of a major storyline involving Mads Mikkelsen's Kaecilius and the other Masters of Mystic Arts?
'Doctor Strange' Prequel Comic Book Teases Major Eye Of Agamotto Storyline?
The "Doctor Strange" trailers already reveals Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange meeting Tilda Swinton's Ancient One and learning to become a sorcerer. The latest teaser also shows that the Sorcerer Supreme already wearing the Eye of Agamotto as he prepares to take on an enemy in the city. However, he is clearly not yet sporting the amulet in a few scenes. It is possible that Strange actually acquires the Eye much later in the MCU film because it was actually taken early on.
The "Doctor Strange" prequel comic books follows the Eye of Agamotto, which was stolen by a mysterious woman. The comic book depicts how Kaecilius, Wong, Daniel Drumm and Tina Minoru retrieved the amulet and brought it back to the Sanctum Santorum. There are speculations that the first part of the MCU film will touch on the comic book's storyline and show the artifact's importance to the Masters of the Mystic Arts.
