Star Wars: The Old Republic New Free-To-Play Limits Announced

Star Wars: The Old Republic went free-to-play last month with several restrictions including no sprinting until reaching level 15, two quick bars, three Warzones per week, and limited in the field respawns. But Bioware has announced that more changes are coming to the game thanks to fan feedback.

In a blog post on the official SWTOR developer blog, Executive Producer Jeff Hickman said that the company often makes changes based on gamer's feedback and that SWTOR limits are still open to discussion.

"One of the most important things to us is to hear player feedback on their game experience," Hickman wrote. "Our community team truly has an ear to the ground with community concerns and discussions and we often make changes based on player feedback."

Hickman also said that the next update to the game will increase some of the previous limitations for free-to-play gamers.

"We listened to your concerns and we increased Quickbars from one to two for Free-to-Play Players, increased Warzones from three to five per week, and reduced the temporary bind on Cartel Market items," Hickman wrote. "We want you to know that this is an ongoing dialogue."

Hickman revealed an add benefit for Preferred Status Players that increases their default Quickbars from two to four. The company will refund Cartel Coins for those preferred players that have made Quickbar-related purchases.

Preferred Status Players will also be given four additional character slots for a totally of six character slots. Free-to-Play Players can become Preferred Status Players by purchasing any item from the online store or by purchasing a physical copy of the game.

Hickman did not announce the release date for the new patch, but said player would not have to wait very long. He also wrote that subscribers would no longer have a limit of 50 global active characters. He said, "If you wanted to, you can truly create your own army of Troopers or a legion of Sith Warriors."

In closing, Hickman encouraged fans to continue posting feedback on forums and social networks, because the team is always looking to enhance the game based on player comments.

"Your feedback is critical to the success of TOR, and of special interest to us. Please, keep posting on the forums, Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit, Hickman wrote. "Even if we can't respond to every post, know that we're listening and looking to enhance The Old Republic gameplay experience based on player feedback."
