Lawrence Tynes missed a 52-yard field goal attempt in the closing seconds of the NFC East-leading Giants' 30-28 loss to the Washington Redskins on ESPN's "Monday Night Football."
Rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III was amazing as he led the way for the Redskins, throwing two touchdown passes and running for another score. He finished the game 22 of 29 for 237 passing yards and another 65 yards rushing.
The Giants were able to hold Washington's other budding star Alfred Morris to only 57 yards rushing with no touchdowns.
Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 139 yards and a touchdown and Eli Manning passed for 303 yards with three touchdown passes for New York. Victor Cruz led the Giants in receiving with eight catches for 131 yards including a 52-yard touchdown from Manning that put New York ahead early in the second half 14-13.
The Redskin would answer right back with a 38-yard field goal from kicker Kai Forbath to make it 16-14 with five minutes remaining in the third quarter.
The last 20 minutes of the games saw 28 point between the two teams as each quarterback led his respective team downfield for two touchdowns.
Manning led New York down the field 83 yards for the go ahead touchdown that put the Giants up 28-23 with 2:43 remaining in the game. But Griffin led the Redskin on a long touchdown drive as well.
Griffin led Washington on an 74-yard touchdown drive throwing 32 yards to receiver Pierre Garcon and then running 20 yards on a keeper to set up Morris' 22-yard score that gave the Redskins a 30-28 lead with just under a minute remaining.
Manning would get the Giants down field very quickly on two quick pass plays to Hakeem Nicks and Martellus Bennett. But Tynes' field goal attempt went wide right as the Giants drop to 2-3 in their division.
