According to Pocket-Lint, PlayStation NEO is the code name for Sony's new console. It is an internal codename which can change once the material is out in the market.
This latest console is not going to replace the current PS4. It serves as an alternative to those who want more from the current one can offer. There will still be production of the PS4 and will continue to do so. It still remains for those users that do not need more. The new console is going to be side by side with PS4. All games are compatible with both consoles.
In a report by TechRadar, Sony created a new console to support 4K resolutions. It is an upgrade of the hardware instead of just slimming down the existing one. The upgrade means that the PlayStation Neo is Sony's first 4K console.
The 4K resolution feature of PlayStation NEO will not sacrifice visual fluidity and sharper resolution from those already own the PS4.
As all games are compatible for both, owners of PS4 can hold on to the console. However, if users want more and faster, then PlayStation NEO is worth the wait.
Meanwhile, Sony does not mean to let buyers leave the old PS4 behind, since the new console gives more. The decision will depend on users and how fast they need the consoles to be.
