Blizzard seems to be unstable at this point following the departure of Josh Mosqueira and a lot of key personnel, pointing to a fuzzy future for the “Diablo” franchise. There was no update made at PAX West 2016 though gamers are hoping to get some key updates at BlizzCon 2016. At the top of it all is whether “Diablo 4” is happening or not.
Given that Mosqueira and company parted ways with the company, hoping for a “Diablo 4” announcement could be a long way off. Blizzard is reportedly looking for replacements to take the place of the departed though fitting in could take some time.
Among the positions that need to be filled include animators, designers, and technicians, key spots that account for the fourth installment. If not, the word out is that Blizzards could be working on a “Diablo 2” remake or even a “Diablo 3” expansion.
Will it be the last for “Diablo”?
Given that when the new team is formed, the crew will have its work cut out for them. They need to backtrack on the previous “Diablo” installments to understand what comes next, including the plot and storylines.
The thought of it alone seems too much to digest, leading many to believe that Blizzard may be better off exerting that effort on new and bigger projects. The thing here is that Blizzards has not officially touched on the matter though all that may be cleared up this November at BlizzCon 2016. Seeing that we are still a long way off, anything can happen.
Given that eventual replacements will take the place of the ‘old ones’, the safest bet is to see the remake (“Diablo 2”) or the expansion (“Diablo 3”). If Blizzard dares, it could be a new game – with reference to the multiple projects covered in a previous post.
