Great news for Netflix fans. The streaming service, which recently unveiled the second season of the viewer acclaimed drug crime drama "Narcos" has ordered not one but two more seasons of series from Chris Brancato, Carlo Bernard, and Doug Miro. For those who haven't caught up with the second season, read no further. It ended in the death of the notorious Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, setting the stage for the next criminal mastermind to take the lead in the upcoming seasons of the show.
We recently reported on Wagner Moura's departure from the show and how he believes it would continue on despite the death of his character, who he played quite impressively. He believed that "Narcos" season 3 would come to fruition because the show didn't revolve around Escobar alone, but on the drug trade that cripples other Latin American countries.
USA Today reports that as Netflix ordered "Narcos" season 3 and 4 so quickly following the release of the second season on the streaming service, as if it was truly inevitable for them to return for more grueling seasons of the show. They even have a teaser for what's to come in the next seasons of the show.
Executive producer Eric Newman admitted that as long as the drug war continues, the show will have a lot to work with. In fact it seems that "Narcos" season 3 will center around the Cali Cartel, which rose to power following the downfall of Escobar's Medellin Cartel. The Cali Cartel's Rodriguez brothers were already introduced in the second season of the show, and it's only a matter of time before they tell their own story.
According to Variety, showrunner Jose Padilha is committing to continue to tell the story of the drug trade, saying that they would probably cease telling the story when the drug trade stops. For now, they're definitely moving forward with "Narcos" season 3, which will hit Netflix this 2017.
