Six months after the death of his loving wife, Rory Feek is still having a hard time accepting that Joey Feek is now gone. In fact, the 51-year-old country singer admitted in his interview with "Sunday Morning" that he still doesn't have the courage to buy her a headstone and is still in denial of her death.
Rory Feek Having A Hard Time To Accept Joey Feek's Death
"I don't know why I just can't. I don't know if it's that she's so simple, and a wooden cross is part of what she would like," Rory Feek explained. "It probably has something to do with permanence. So, for now, I can sit out here and feel like it's - it's maybe just temporary. Although I know it's not." Joey Feek's remains lie in the couple's farm in Pottsville, Tennessee and until now he still can't move on, as per NY Daily News.
Rory Feek's Preparation To Move On
To recall, Joey Feek died after her two-year battle with cervical cancer on March 4. The saddest event happened just when the pair's new album, "Hymns That Are Important to Us," was launched and, actually, topped the country music chart. Anthony Mason wrote in CBS News that the songwriter had all the time to prepare for his wife's death but admitted that no one can be prepared for something like this.
Rory Feek told him that he is not sure if he already expected to feel the heavy feeling of losing his wife as they tried to get ready for it. However, he disclosed that Joey Reek's amazing personality and their wonderful memories make it harder to forget her.
A Documentary Film For Joey Feek
Meanwhile, as Rory Feek wants to relive the memories of his wife, he created a documentary film in her honor. If truth be told, this helps him to feel fine again as he gets to see Joey Feek once again every single day. Titled "To Joey, With Love: A Story of Life, Love & Hope that Never Dies," it is the docu that he wrote, filmed and directed. It will be released on Sept. 20 at Cinemark Tulsa 17 and Cinemark Broken Arrow and in theaters on Oct. 6.
