'Madden NFL 17' Latest News & Updates: New Patch Just Released

Although EA Sports' "Madden NFL 17" was hailed as the best entry in the long-running pro football franchise so far, it seems as though the launch of the new game was apparently not without its flaws. The game still had some serious issues to fix, and a new patch released today sets out to resolve those problems.

The "Madden NFL 17" patch fixes an issue in which the opposing A.I. team can apparently easily figure out if you were going with a run or a pass play and call the defense's play accordingly. Fumbles were also a problem in the game, with the internal settings apparently making it too easy for a defending player to strip the football from the ball carrier. While instances of fumbles from tackles have been reduced by the update, the rate of fumbling through quarterback sacks remain the same.

More changes listed by "Madden NFL 17" creative director Rex Dickson, as reported by GameSpot, are as follows: defense A.I. behavior in zone defenses deployed against run plays, the Acquisitions screen in the game's Franchise mode, passing icons in play action calls, and the stamina penalty. These are only a fraction of the game's overall problems being fixed in this patch, as apparently EA Sports plans to release another patch that would address even more bugs found in the game.

The new dynamic commentary system in "Madden NFL 17" will also now come into play starting with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's controversial decision to not stand up for the U.S. national anthem in protest of racial oppression in the country. The game's commentary team will be discussing this in newly-recorded audio clips that will be uploaded, but it's still a little unsure if this new commentary will be appearing in this particular update.
