It seems like "A Song of Ice and Fire" readers have been waiting for Lady Stoneheart to appear in "Game of Thrones" for too long. After all, Michelle Fairley's Catelyn Stark was killed off in Season 3. But is it possible that the resurrected Stark matriarch will finally pop up in "Game of Thrones" Season 7? George R.R. Martin has spoke up about the character's possible small-screen debut.
In George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series, Lady Stoneheart is a force to reckon with. The resurrected Catelyn Stark is a cruel character that leads the Brotherhood Without Banners. Now that the Brotherhood has returned to the TV series, hope has been rekindled that Zombie Cat will finally debut in "Game of Thrones" Season 7.
George R.R. Martin Addresses Lady Stoneheart's Appearance In 'Game Of Thrones' Season 7
According to The Grumpy Fish, George R.R. Martin shared some "Game of Thrones" Season 7 spoilers with "ASOIAF" theorist Preston Jacobs during the recent Balticon. When asked whether Lady Stoneheart will finally appear in the HBO series, Martin revealed that the show had actually cut the character out of the storyline. If the writer of "The Winds of Winter" was not simply trolling his fans, this could mean that the resurrected Catelyn Stark will not join the TV series.
"Game of Thrones" has taken several liberties with George R.R. Martin's novels, changing many things in the storyline. However, it was not explained why the show's producers decided to do away with Lady Stoneheart's story arc. "Game of Thrones" Season 7 has already started filming and will premiere on HBO next summer.
