Capcom is brining the handheld survival horror video game, Resident Evil: Revelations to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, according to a new ratings listing.
The news appeared on the website NeoGAF and was reported via IGN, the Korean Ratings Board notes two separated entries for the game listing it as appearing on Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
Resident Evil: Revelations is a departure from the current trend of action-oriented games in the series and returns to the survival horror formula of earlier titles in the franchise. The game features many returning elements of previous games including a limited supply of ammunition, an emphasis on exploration and puzzle solving.
The game takes place in-between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 taking place after the establishment of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA), a counter-terrorism group introduced in Resident Evil 5.
The game's story features the original protagonist of the series Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. Jill Valentine and her new partner, Parker Luciani, are sent to find Chris Redfield and his new partner, Jessica Sherawat on the cruise ship SS Queen Zenobia.
The game has received mostly positive reviews and currently holds an accumulated score of 83.63 percent at GameRankings. Metacritic has the game at an 82-out-of-100 based on 78 reviews from critics.
Nintendo World Report gave the game a 9-out-of-10 and said, "Resident Evil: Revelations is an impressive game that's great fun. Though its contribution to the larger mythos is inconsequential, the game's story mode presents a good challenge and some genuinely hair-raising moments, and Raid Mode is fun, addictive, and rewarding."
Game Informer also gave the game a 9-out-of-10 and said, "Resident Evil: Revelations is just what fans of the series and bored 3DS owners needed. The story is interesting with the added bonus of actually being coherent for once, the gameplay feels perfect on the 3DS, and it's one of the greatest-looking portable games I've ever seen, especially with the 3D cranked up. The campaign sports the heft and depth of one of the main series entries."
IGN gave the game an 8.5-out-of-10 and said, "Resident Evil Revelations is a great handheld game, one that not only pushes the boundaries and standards of the Nintendo 3DS but one that recaptures a long-forgotten spirit of a classic franchise."
