"Pacific Rim 2" is yet to take flight as it has been rumored on coming forth soon enough. However, the wait may take a little more patience as some slight issues surfaced recently.
The sequel to the hit sci-fi flick "Pacific Rim" has some new details to drop to its fans. Though the movie was considered an appraisable success, there are some bits of not-so-pleasant news that surrounded the title that was named 'Pacific Rim: Maelstrom.
One of which is the omission of Charlie Hunnam, as per Cheat Sheet. The actor can be recalled on portraying the role of Raleigh Beckett, but confirmed that he will not be reprising the character again because of scheduling issues and even political matters within "Pacific Rim 2."
The claims are also justifiable as the actor has quite the amount of work lined up for him. Finishing the TV series "Sons of Anarchy" and to star in the 2017 rendition of "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword," "Pacific Rim 2" may not be showcasing any if not all of Hunnam.
In the same manner, other cast members are said to potentially return for "Pacific Rim 2," such as Maisie WIlliams from the HBO series "Game of Thrones." This was teased last year, and is yet to officially be confirmed.
Those that can be expected, however, include "Suicide Squad" star Scott Eastwood in the mix. The most intriguing announcement made so far is the casting of John Boyega, slated to portray the role of Stacker Pentecost's son in "Pacific Rim 2," as HNGN reports.
As for the director, Steven S. DeKnight, known for his works on "Dardevil" and "Spartacus," will take the seat for "Pacific Rim 2." The director's participation was mentioned by the predecessor's man-in-charge, Guillermo Del Toro.
"Pacific Rim 2" was given a February 23, 2018 release date. Stay posted for more updates and news on the upcoming sci-fi continuity.
