Sega Arcade Classics Virtua Fighter 2 and FIghting Vipers Coming to the US

Praise be to the virtual gods Jobe and Bob Paige, because it looks like you won't have to go digging through your closets for a dusty and beat up Sega Saturn to play some good 'ol fashioned Sega styled arcade beat 'em ups.

After receiving ratings from Germany's entertainment software regulating body, there was hope over the possibility of some of Sega's previous arcade hits coming to home consoles (again). Now it's much more than a possibility, it's a reality.

Sega announced today that what was previously thought as a Japan only release is coming to the rest of the civilized world. And Europe too!

Classic (and one not so classic) fighers Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, and Sonic the Fighters (a truly bizarre fighter featuring the fuzzy hedgehog mascot duking it out alongside his animal pals against Robotnik and his creations) are coming to the PSN and XBLA, complete with both online multiplayer, and achievements / trophies.

They're available as a bundle for Japanese players, but European and American gamers will be able to grab each title for $4.99, or 400 MSP.

All the titles were were made by Sega's AM2 development team, and were based on the Model 2 arcade board,. Even the fighters featured similarly structured control layouts, using basic kick, punch, and block buttons.

The coin-op classics (shameless plug) come to the PSN on Nov. 27 and XBLA on Nov. 28.

Future possible titles include Cyber Troopers Virtual-On and Virtua Striker, though they're yet to be announced. Check back here for more news, and even more cheesey "Lawnmower Man 2" references.
