Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's Double XP Weekend Begins

Hope you had your wheaties, because you'll need all the energy you can get to...sit on your couch and play Black Ops 2 all day. In other words, a Saturday like all others.

Today begins Treyarch's double XP weekend for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, where players of the game's multiplayer mode get double the experience, giving gamers an easier way to launch themselves into prestige levels.

With the faulty code event that unfolded earlier this week, a lot of players were worried that they wouldn't be able to take part in Treyarch's event, as the Nuketown 2025 map is required to participate.

The map is a remake of one of the Call of Duty franchises most popular map, Nuketown, which first appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops. One of the smallest maps, it focused on close quarters combat, and was a bit claustrophobic.

Several PS3 Black Ops 2 players found themselves with a faulty code that, when used, greeted players with a message saying the code had already been redeemed. Activision quickly set to work on the issue, and as of yesterday, was guiding players to an online form they could fill out in order to get a new code.

If you're still facing the problem, you can fill out the form here. Hopefully you can have your issue resolved before the weekend is through.

Launched just this past Tuesday, Black Ops 2 has set records among retailers, and has brought in approximately $500 million so far.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 sees players assume the role of Alex Mercer's son, David. As indicated by the trailer, the game is set in war-torn Los Angeles in the year 2025, and the People's Republic of China has invaded Los Angeles due to a global struggle involving rare earth minerals. At the same time, a terrorist by the name of Raul Menendez manages to infiltrate the miltary network to take over hundreds of the U.S's own automated drones, using them to attack its major cities. Sounds a bit far fetched, but it's really not.

Players are able to make choices throughout the game that will affect the story, including a variety of endings.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is out now for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, with a release to follow for Nintendo's Wii U.
