"Captain America: Civil War" should have been titled "Finding Bucky", since most fans couldn't help but talk about the relationship between Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). However, the connection between the two characters could be more than just fodder for #Stucky fan fiction. Is it possible that Bucky will eventually become Captain America when Steve leaves the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
This isn't a surprising question for comic book fans. After all, Bucky Barnes has taken on the Captain America mantle in the "Civil War" storyline. But is it possible that MCU will unveil Bucky Barnes as the new Captain America? There have been a few clues from the movies.
'Captain America: Civil War' Deleted Scene Confirms Bucky Barnes Has Shield Envy
A deleted scene from "Captain America: Civil War" was recently revealed, and it shows Bucky Barnes really likes Cap's shield. The scene follows the shield's journey before it reaches Steve Rogers' hand, with Bucky saying he needs to get himself a shield as well.
Sure, it might seem like gadget envy, but Bucky Barnes has gotten his hands on Captain America's shield several times. He managed to catch it when Steve threw it at him in "The Winter Soldier" and the two even whipped it back and forth while taking on Iron Man in "Civil War". But is it finally time for Bucky to wield the shield in future MCU films.
Bucky Barnes' future may seem uncertain after the end of "Captain America: Civil War". However, fans still believe that Bucky will play an important role in the next MCU films. There are speculations that the character could show up in "Black Panther" (because he is in Wakanda right now) as well as "Avengers: Infinity War".
