"Battlefield 1," the newest entry in Electronic Arts' "Battlefield" franchise set in World War I, is finally entering open beta pretty soon. You're going to need to free up quite a bit of space in order to be able to play the beta, though.
GameSpot reports that the "Battlefield 1" beta is most likely going to take up 6.2 GB on your console/PC hard drives. This information isn't final yet as the page for the beta hasn't yet appeared on PlayStation Store, or EA Origin, but this was reported by "Battlefield 1" fansite Battlefield Bulletin, who saw it on Xbox One (but not on all accounts).
The "Battlefield 1" beta will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on August 31 next week. Battlefield Insiders (subscribers to the official "Battlefield" newsletter by EA) who signed up before this week will be able to access the beta phase much earlier.
What's in the "Battlefield 1" beta, you ask? The early-access phase will be centered on one map only: the Sinai Desert mission. Up to 64 players will be able to play against each other as the Allies and the Ottoman Empire in a barren desert map for control of the strategic Suez Canal on foot, via tank, or through air. The map will feature horses and an armored train as part of the gameplay; the big game-changer is the Armored Train Behemoth that can tip the scales for a team that's facing defeat.
"Battlefield 1" is scheduled for a full release later this year on October 21. Playstation 4 players who want to play the game early can get the deluxe edition exclusive to EA Access players; the game will become available three days early for only $5 a month, or $30 a year (on top of purchasing the game). The game will also have a DLC season pass for only $50.
