'Final Fantasy 7' Remake Release Date & Latest News: Redditor Reveals Remake Set For Q4 2017; Multi-Series Release Begins December 2016

The remake of "Final Fantasy 7" is already in the works and Square Enix will most likely feature the next official reveal at PSX 2016 in December. A recent leak hinted that "Final Fantasy 7" might launch in the fourth quarter of 2017 for PlayStation 4, with the Xbox One version following sometime in 2018.

The Bitbag noted that one Reddit user, MajorBlaze 1, revealed that Amazon sent him an email about his "Final Fantasy 7" pre-order. The message stated that the estimated delivery date of his pre-order, based on the new release date, will be on Dec. 29, 2017. Previously, the pre-order notice stated that the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will be released in December 2016, but the email confirmed that it will be postponed one year later. The new launch date seemed more practical, while others believe that the title might even be pushed further to the end of 2018.

According to Game Informer, Square Enix stated that the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will launch as a multi-series game. There will be a number of notable changes in the hit action role-playing game. Producer Yoshinori Kitase stated that "Final Fantasy" may feature characters and a plot from the Compilation content. Less important characters in the story will not be present in the new version. The visuals and graphics of the new "Final Fantasy 7" will also be enhanced.

The goal of the "Final Fantasy 7" remake is to structure it more like "Final Fantasy XIII," instead of an episodic series. Kitase mentioned that each part of the "Final Fantasy 7" multi-part series will essentially be a full-scale game. This means that every installment may tell the story from a different perspective, similar to the approach in "FF8." There is already a pre-existing story, so each part should be on par with the scale of a single "FF8" game.

Kitase, Tetsuya Nomura and Kazushige Nojima are working on the "Final Fantasy 7" remake. He hinted that they may introduce some changes, considering that they are the very same people who created the original version. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the launch of "Final Fantasy 15" on Sept. 30, 2016.
