For the series finale, Nina Dobrev is willing to appear in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. However, this news is not welcome to ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder and wife Nikki Reed.
Nina Dobrev Returns For 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8
Nina Dobrev is reportedly in talks with The CW president Mark Pedowitz about her return for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, Popsugar reported. During the San Diego Comic-Con 2016, series creator Julie Plec talked about Dobrev's possible return for the series finale. She mentioned that they both have agreed that she will reprise her role as Elena in the last and final season.
"All I can say, because there is nothing written in stone, but Nina made me a promise when she left that she would come back and be part of the goodbye, and I intend on holding her to that, and I'm sure she intends on living up to it as well," Julie Plec explained why Nina Dobrev will come back for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. "We just have to figure it out: the how, the when, the what. But it would be a real tragedy if we couldn't bring that story back around full-circle."
The network president admitted that Nina Dobrev was a vital part of "The Vampire Diaries." Pedowitz said that they are trying to work things out with Dobrev. If it isn't possible for her to return to "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, Pedowitz still promised fans that Julie Plec has created a great ending for the series.

Ian Somerhalder & Nikki Reed Not Happy?
Meanwhile, ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder and his wife Nikki Reed are rumored to sabotage Nina Dobrev's come back to "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, Parent Herald suggested. When the Dobrev's return was brought during the San Diego Comic-Con, Somerhalder was clearly interrupting the series creator and was adamant in saying that Dobrev cannot possibly return.
Ian Somerhalder was clearly emotional in discussing Nina Dobrev's return for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. This may stem from marital issues with wife Nikki Reed and not wanting to add more to it.
