Bioware received a lot of criticism for Mass Effect 3's ending and even the developer's attempt to improve the game's endings through an extended cut has lefted the fan base torn apart.
Some fans hate the ending and others respect Bioware's artistic right to end it's product in the way the developer decided. Either way there are many opinions about the game's ending.
One Mass Effect player has decided to mod the game's ending in attempt to ease some of the angst. The fan-made ending was first reported by GameSpy. The Modder did a pretty admirable job in making a complete alternative ending for the game. With a few more refinements and modifications this could become a preferred ending for most gamers.
I did not hate the original endings, but I was not a fan of them either. Mostly because it felt like the choices that we as gamers made through out the series really didn't have an impact in the finale. I totally anticipated Shepard's death, but I still wanted an ending with a bald fat Commander Shepard drinking some glowing blue drink at the bar with Garrus as they reminisced about their past deeds.
I would also have been cool with an ending where Shepard is raising some blue-skinned or poetry reciting children on a brand new colony located in the heart of Eden Prime. He could have been a great used spaceship salesman, but I digress.
