It was a wrapped-up last Aug 5 for the shooting of "Sherlock" Season 4. Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the title role, said it is the "darkest series" by far. And what does he exactly mean by that?
Writer Steve Moffat said that "Sherlock" Season 4 will have a different kind of villain who will be portrayed by Toby Jones, while Cumberbatch describes it as "myopically dark." Bet it will be so gruesome that it might mean the end of the universe! Or so dark that you cannot see what is infront of you. Well, that is how the cast and crew describe the upcoming detective series.
The two villains in the previous seasons had something pleasant about them. Moriarty was described as someone charming and engaging by Moffat, while Charles Augustus was fascinating in spite of being immoral. But "Sherlock" Season 4's new villain? He is horrifically evil! And yes, the show runners gave him a horrific set of teeth as well, just to show how horrible his insides are.
It was so horrendous that even Jones himself, when he sees himself on television, would gasp and think "Oh no!" The villain's role for "Sherlock" Season 4 has not been named yet, but he will be the finest, if not the darkest.
Jones is an Olivier Award-winning actor, and there's no doubt that he can portray his role to perfection. The cast and crew are just thrilled to welcome him to the family. The "Sherlock" series is one of the most popular television program of BBC. "The Abominable Bride" has just a little less than 12 million viewers. Now, with Jones' most-hyped villain role, could "Sherlock" Season 4 surpass the its rating? We certainly hope so.
Nick Hurran, director of "His Last Vow," will run the show. The 2014 "Sherlock" episode has been nominated in the Emmy's. With the help of Moffat, "Sherlock" Season 4 will definitely see places.
