UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor successfully redeemed himself at UFC 202 after winning his main card against Nate Diaz. But moving forward, the Irishman may need to address some spats he created prior to the event.
Earlier this month, McGregor was his usual expletive self but inadvertently caused a stir when he took a swipe at the WWE. In a post from our sister site, iSports Times, McGregor said that he could ‘slap the head off the entire (WWE) roster’ which drew backlash from certain WWE stars.
That list included Roman Reigns, Sasha Banks and Rick Flair plus Kurt Angle who dared the Irishman to take just ‘five bumps’ with him, Sports Illustrated reported. Those didn’t stop McGregor’s offensive with most believing that his dish was nothing more than a publicity stunt for his UFC 202 match. With that over, the whole issue is far from over.
Brock Lesnar issues open challenge
In an interview with Sam Roberts, Brock Lesnar was of two WWE stars to come out in the open and respond to McGregor’s rants. Obviously unhappy, Lesnar went straight to the point and dared McGregor to step into the ring. A video of that interview can be seen below with the “Beast Incarnate” obviously unhappy.
Seth Rollins jabs at McGregor
The latest WWE star to vent out is Seth Rollins. Appearing on the ESPN SportsCenter, the former WWE champion was asked to comment on McGregor’s comments.
Rollins reacted by saying that all of it seemed like a page taken out of the WWE playbook. He did however add that if McGregor was serious, he is welcome to try by stepping into the WWE ring, Wrestlingnews.co reported.
On whether the dish of McGregor was aimed to reel in more buys to UFC 202 is over and done with. While he mentioned a possible third match with Nate Diaz following his win, he just added another irked group to his list with the WWE.
