Bioware confirms that the Mass Effect 3: Special Edition on Nintendo's Wii U will have an interactive comic book to cover the back story for both Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2, according to post on Bioware's blog.
Melanie Faulknor, external producer for Mass Effect 3 Special Edition on the Wii U wrote:
"We are also including a new update to the Genesis interactive back story comic from Dark Horse we first released when Mass Effect 2 came to the PS3. The updated version will allow Wii U players to get the back story of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 and will allow them to make decisions at key story points. These choices will then create a save game for you that can be imported into the game, opening up more storylines for each player. So if you're new to the series, you can get caught up and personalize the experience. And if you've already played, you can choose a different route to see what things you might not have seen the first time around."
The Special Edition version will also come with downloadable content expansions including From Ashes, the Extended Cut, Rebellion, Resurgence and Earth multiplayer packs, and a bonus heavy weapon, are all included on the disc, says Faulkner. The Leviathan DLC is missing from the list, but there is no word on if it will be availble for download on the new system.
She also wrote about how the Wii U's GamePad will be utilized in Mass Effect 3. She wrote, "You can control your squadmates, utilize both Shepard and your squad's abilities and even play Mass Effect 3 all from the GamePad - something that comes in super handy if someone else in the house wants to watch or use the TV."
Mass Effect 3: Special Edition will release for the Wii U as a launch title when the console launches in North America on Nov. 18, Nov 30 in Europe and Dec. 5 in Japan.
