Fans are still looking for ways to cope with the end of "Penny Dreadful". After all, Season 3 concluded with the death of Vanessa Ives (Eva Green). To make matters worse, creator John Logan announced that there will be no "Penny Dreadful" Season 4. But is it possible that Vanessa will reunite with Perdita Weeks' Catriona Hartdegen in a rumored spinoff series?
Catriona Hartdegen was introduced in "Penny Dreadful" Season 2 Episode 6. Her first interaction with Vanessa Ives in "No Beast So Fierce" revealed that she could be an excellent match for Vanessa. Fans were hooked from the moment she said her nickname "Cat" actually stood for "cat-o'-nine-tails." But will Catriona star in her own spinoff series now that "Penny Dreadful" Season 4 has been cancelled?
'Penny Dreadful' Spinoff Series To Focus On Catriona And Tathanology? Will Vanessa Ives Cameo?
Game & Guide has previously reported that John Logan does not have any plans of resurrecting Vanessa Ives after her death in the "Penny Dreadful" Season 3 finale. However, the creator also admitted that he "loved Catriona" when asked whether a spinoff series is possible. Will Catriona get her own "Penny Dreadful" spinoff show?
"To me, the show was always going to achieve closure with the death of Vanessa," Logan told TVLine last June. The creator also made it clear that the supporting characters would be left with their own proper conclusions that don't necessarily lead to "Penny Dreadful" Season 4.
"All the storylines this season were meant to be leaving characters at a place of appropriate and beautiful stasis," Logan said. At this point, it doesn't sound like a "Penny Dreadful" spinoff series with Catriona or Vanessa would happen in the future.
Do you think Catriona should get her own "Penny Dreadful" spinoff series? Did John Logan do the right thing by cancelling "Penny Dreadful" Season 4? Let us know in the comments.
