'Pokemon GO' Tips & Tricks: List Of Trickiest Pokemon To Catch Includes Abra, Charizard, Raichu & More

After "Pokemon Go" has taken the world by storm, a lot of its players are left frustrated (or delighted) since some Pokemon are harder to catch than others. A newbie player might have dozens of Ratatas and Pidgeys, while another might be lucky enough to catch a Dragonair or Arcanine within the few days of playing.

Regardless, the discrepancy with the catch rates is what makes catching Pokemon more thrilling. It is also what gives those with stronger and rarer ones bragging rights.

Fortunately, some experts have come up with very deep mathematical algorithms for catching rarer Pokemon and even posted their strategies on Reddit. These players have gone as deep as going into the game's code in finding out what makes rare Pokemon the way they are and have devised tactical ways in catching them. They have found out which Pokemon have the lowest base capture rate which means which Pokemon are more likely to flee.

This knowledge is vital for any "Pokemon Go" player since it can spell out the difference between catching a Pokemon within the first few Pokeball throws, or just wasting a lot on a rare Pokemon that a player cannot catch anyway.

A post by Business Insider enumerates some of the hardest Pokemon to catch. Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Wartortle, Raichu, Clefable, Ninetales, Arcanine, Gyarados, Dragonair, Gengar all share an 8% base capture rate. It is worth noting that these Pokemon are all evolved and catching one of these can lead a player closer to short ambitions of being gym leader in the nearest Pokemon gym.

Aside from these, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Dragonite all share a low 4% base capture rate. These are among some of the strongest Pokemon in the game. While running into one of these would make any Pokemon trainer's day, catching them might be a different story since they are very likely to escape. If not done right, a player can spend a hundred balls on these Pokemon yet still go home empty handed.

Abra is also considered as one of the hardest Pokemon to catch. While it does not have a low base capture rate, it has the highest flee rate in the game at a whopping 99%. So it is either a player catches it at the first throw or it runs away.
