GameStop announced that it has canceled all midnight launches for Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed III: Liberation in the northeast region of the United States due to Hurricane Sandy, according to an article on IGN.
A GameStop spokesperson provided IGN with this statement:
"Our top priority is the safety of our employees and customers. In compliance with directives issued by state and local authorities, stores in the path of the storm will remain closed until it is safe to re-open and midnight openings for Assassin's Creed III have been cancelled in the northeast. Customers should check with their local stores for details on when we will re-open."
According to the report launches in other regions of the United States will not be affected. Assassin's Creed III officially releases tomorrow Oct. 30 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC release will follow on Nov. 20, while a Wii U version will be available at the consoles launch on Nov. 18.
GameStop has suggested that gamer affected by the storm should check back with their local store after hurricane Sandy passes to find out store hours and when they will be able to pick up a copy Assassin's Creed III for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 or a copy of Assassin's Creed III: Liberation for the PlayStation Vita.
