Blizzard listened, tested and may soon be granting the wish “Overwatch” players have been looking for. And this is with reference to the bandwidth issued tied up to the game to perform up to par.
High bandwidth support for “Overwatch” gamers looms over the horizon following Blizzard’s revelation that they have tested and are presumably satisfied with the results.
With that said, the new feature could land in the weeks to come which means that even those playing all the games can enjoy faster connections by default. All this was revealed by Blizzard via the Battlenet forums.
Welcome development
With that announcement, a lot of “Overwatch” players are likely to look forward to the increased bandwidth. Apparently, some have had their issues with the tickrates which is tied up to the game’s response rate.
This should account for better performing games, smoother graphics that many “Ovewatch” gamers will surely appreciate. The bump is expected to increase the client update rate from 21 to 63 times per second, a big jump. "This reduces the amount of time between when you complete an action and when your client hears back about the result, which in turn will help make the game feel more responsive," explained Blizzard.
Slow connections addressed as well
Speaking of bandwidth, it is a given that not all “Overwatch” players are gifted with decent Internet speeds. There are some who still deal with slow connections and Blizzards is aware of the problem.
Blizzard will be adding an in tech that automatically scales down the update rate, meaning that there will be an option in place to limit updates in an effort to spare others from suffering in bandwidth usage. It may be a downside for the ones with low Internet speed but a sacrifice for the sake of others with decent connections.
The increased update rate only covers the PC users of “Overwatch” for now. There is no word yet on when Blizzard will do the same for the ones using game consoles.
