The highly anticipated PlayStation Meeting is taking place this September 7, and with that, rumors have began to circulate regarding whether or not Rockstar Games will be part of the event, and more importantly, if the studio will have any big announcements in store. Thanks to industry insider Tidux, fans are now reeling with excitement, anticipating Rockstar to finally announce the much anticipated "Red Dead Redemption 2."
We recently reported about Rockstar's stellar year in terms of sales, racking up $311.6 million last June 30. The main contributors to that impressive figure are "GTA 5," "NBA 2J16," and "Battleborn." With that much resources in their hands, it's easy to see how they could move forward in producing "Red Dead Redemption."
A recent report from Mirror revealed that the studio is indeed busy working on something new to bring to the table, although they did not specify what exactly they were working on. They did say, however, that they are "hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon." If by soon, they mean the PlayStation meeting this September, then that means very soon indeed.
Rockstar Games may take advantage of the PlayStation Meeting to unveil the highly anticipated "Red Dead Redemption 2," but Express reports that while there aren't any confirmed announcements yet there may be other things the studio would announce, such as a new "GTA" project.
"Red Dead Redemption" was released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was produced by Steve Martin, Josh Needleman, David Kunkler, and John Ricchio, and received highly favorable reviews. The game was named Game of the Year during the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards. Its main character, John Marston, who is voiced by Rob Wiethoff, was named GameSpot and IGN's best new character of the year. Wiethoff also received praise from Complex and The New York Times.
Back in 2013, Take-Two COO Karl Slatoff mentioned that the "Red Dead Redemption" is of utmost importance to the company, which at the time had a timeline of projects to be released. Keep your fingers crossed that "Red Dead Redemption" is indeed one of them.
