'Pokemon GO' Cheats, Tips & Tricks: Master the Dodge to Avoid Earthquake & Blizzard Attacks

Niantic's "Pokemon GO" may enable players to create a collection of their favorite Pokemon creatures, but it's more than just setting off to "catch 'em all." In fact, the next stage in the game is to be able to battle other Pokemon and their trainers. So what's next after mastering the art of catching Pokemon? It's mastering the dodge to prepare for one's opponents.

At the end of July, Niantic rolled out a new update that changed a lot of players' favorite moves. In fact, about 60 moves were "beefed up" according to Comic Book, because Niantic wants their trainers to take into consideration how they attack during gym battles. Blizzard and Earthquake has increased DPS from 15 to 25 (that's Damage Per Second for you newbies).

Hyper Beam has increased DPS from 14 to 25 as well. This indicates how Niantic wants their "Pokemon GO" trainers to create their own strategies and techniques when it comes to gym battles. While players used to just tap away as fast as they could, they are now encouraged to think twice and consider strategy in defeating their enemies. Check out the full list of attack upgrades here.

Now, how does one master the dodge to avoid Earthquake and Blizzard attacks? According to Reddit user just_blue, who also uploaded footage of how a Blastoise dodged a Blizzard attack from a Lapras, the first step is to wait for a yellow flash. Blizzard attacks are characterized by a very quick flash that occurs right after the defending Pokemon gets enclosed in ice by the Blizzard. Despite being encased in ice, the Pokemon will still incur damage, but the rest of the damage will be no more.

Meanwhile, Reddit user hiimmas claims that the dodge window theory is true, and that players can use the dodge window to better beat their opponents. No word on how the dodge window plays into dodging the Earthquake attack as of the moment, but feel free to hit the comments to share your thoughts on how to defend your Pokemon from such attacks in "Pokemon GO."
