Rockstar Games announced that it would be celebrating the tenth anniversary of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City by re-releasing the 2002 open world action-adventure video game on mobile devices.
Rockstar wrote the following on its newswire:
"To celebrate the 10th anniversary, there will be a series of commemorative assets released, including never-before-seen artwork and a brand new anniversary trailer highlighting some of the most iconic scenes and music from the game. In addition, a limited run of collectable promotional items will be made available for purchase through the Rockstar Warehouse, with select items also available via online giveaways.
In conjunction with the anniversary, we're pleased to announce that we'll be releasing an Anniversary Edition of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for select iOS and Android devices later this fall. This upcoming version will bring the full experience to mobile devices, featuring native high-resolution graphics and several enhancements unique to the iOS and Android platforms. Stay tuned for more details in the weeks ahead including a list of compatible iOS and Android devices."
When Grand Theft Auto: Vice City hits mobiles devices, gamers will have the opportunity to return 1986 and the fictional Vice City, as Mafia hitman Tommy Vercetti. In the game, Vercetti is only recently released from prison when he is involved in a drug deal gone wrong, and seeks out his enemies, while building a his very own criminal empire.
The game also had one of the best soundtrack in video game history featuring real-life artists, such as Megadeth, Electric Light Orchestra, Judas Priest, Quiet Riot, Toto, Blondie, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, David Lee Roth, INXS, Michael Jackson, Teena Marie, Rick James, Kate Bush, Bryan Adams, Go West, Luther Vandross, Kool & the Gang, A Flock of Seagulls, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Spandau Ballet, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Hashim, Corey Hart, Laura Branigan, REO Speedwagon, and Eumir Deodato.
The game is the sixth highest rated PlayStation 2 with a 95-out-of-100 game score, according to review compiling website Metacritic.
