The first nine minutes of Funimation's upcoming animated film "Mass Effect: Paragon Lost" has been released to tease fans of what is to come. The new animated movie is scheduled to release on Blu-ray and DVD on Dec. 28.
The nine-minute clip feature a Krogan Blood Pack attacking an Alliance colony called Fehl Prime, which is located in the Terminus system. The clips official synopsis reads: "The Krogan Blood Pack currently lay siege to the Alliance's number one pharma colony on Fehl Prime. Sitrep has the Blood Pack outside the perimeter, hammering the colony k-barriers. It's time to call in the troops."
During Mass Effect 3 it is mentioned that James Vega and his squad were stationed on the colony when the Collectors attacked. Vega was forced to make a decision about saving the lives of the colonist or gaining valuable Intel about the Collectors for the Alliance. Vega decided to gather the information at the cost of the colonists. The Intel becomes useless because Commander Shepard neutralizes the Collector threat during the events of Mass Effect 2.
Freddie Prinze, Jr. is returning to his role as James Vega for the new animated film. "Mass Effect: Paragon Lost" is a collaboration between the game developer Bioware and Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell, Kill Bill: Vol.1). Henry Gillroy wrote the film's script and Justin Cook is serving as ADR Director.
I'm not sure how I feel about the animation. The Krogans look a little to human for my taste, but the action looks to be pretty good. Hopefully it will have a strong narrative.
