It is more than half a year since "Homeland" Season 5 ended and fans are now excited for the return of the political thriller television series. At the recent panel session of the Television Critics Association, the show's executive producer Alex Gansa announced that "Homeland" Season 6 would be darker and more suspense this time.
The Election Day, Peter Quinn & Carrie Mathison's Fate
It has been known that "Homeland" usually tells the story of the real-life happenings, so fans are about to see "Homeland" Season 6 to be about the 72 days that happens between the Election Day and Inauguration Day. However, the real result of the electoral process will not affect the fictional drama, Variety reported.
In "Homeland" Season 6, Peter Quinn would be back and the actor who plays the role, Rupert Friend, would stay as a series regular. As the said character is now alive, Alex Gansa disclosed that he still has to be careful as he just experienced a major stroke. In fact, his survival is being in question and fans are about to see a different Peter Quinn this time in "Homeland" Season 6.
Moreover, after Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) was diagnosed having a bipolar disorder, it became one of her major struggles. But, she hinted that her mental condition would be now stable in "Homeland" Season 6. The 37-year-old star talked about her undercover work and explained that "she's advocating on behalf of Muslims who have been unjustly accused and unfairly treated." She also added that her character has a bigger agenda that she is not yet completely admitting.
Showtime Renewed 'Homeland' For Season 8
Meanwhile, Alex Gansa also teased that the filming of "Homeland" Season 6 will start this week in New York City, as per BGR. Aside from that, he already confirmed that Showtime renewed "Homeland" to have a Season 8 that would be also the show's last installment. The screenwriter explained that the eight seasons are sufficed to tell the story of the TV series fully and keep its quality for not making it too long. "Homeland" Season 6 is set to be back on Jan. 15, 2017 on Showtime.
