Ubisoft announced that its upcoming historical action-adventure open world stealth video game, Assassin's Creed III is the most preordered game in the company's history.
"Assassin's Creed 3 is one of the most anticipated games of the year and this impressive pre-order mark is just a hint of the game's potential," said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales & marketing, Ubisoft. "When players discover the new features, historical period, characters and gaming experience that the development team has worked so hard to create, we're confident that they will agree that this is the biggest, best Assassin's Creed game yet."
According to Gamestop president Tony Bartel the game says that the preorders are higher nearly 100-percent higher.
"Pre-orders for Assassin's Creed 3 at GameStop are nearly 100% higher than last year, putting the game on track to be one of the top titles of 2012," said Bartel. "In addition, Ubisoft is offering high quality DLC available at launch to bring even more excitement to this title."
Gamers who pre-order Assassin's Creed III: GameStop Edition from GameStop receive the exclusive Lost Mayan Ruins single player mission and the Sawtooth Sword weapon as added bonuses.
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed III releases on Oct. 30 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC release will follow on Nov. 20, while a Wii U version will be available at the consoles launch on Nov. 18.
The first four Assassin's Creed games have sold more than 40 million units worldwide, and the franchise is one of the best-selling video game series ever, according to a press release from Ubisoft.
