The casting rumors keep coming for Marvel Studios' upcoming "Captain America: the Winter Soldier," a sequel to 2011's "Captain America: First Avenger." The latest batch of names includes, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Josh Holloway, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Kevin Durand.
According to a report by Latino-Review, Winstead has emerged as the studio's favorite for the female lead, which the site is speculating the role to be that of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 13, Sharon Carter, the niece of the Captain America's first love interest Peggy Carter.
Earlier this month, website Deadline reported that Emilia Clarke, Jessica Brown Findlay, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, and Alison Brie were being considered for Rogers' love interest in the film. But with the new report from Latino-Review, it appears that Winstead has become the front-runner.
Deadline also reported that Scarlett Johansson would be reprising her role as Black Widow in the film likely having something to do with the Winter Soldier and the Soviet Department X.
The website also says, "The two 'very physical' male parts Marvel is looking to cast are our villains." Latino-Review also reports that Holloway, Coster-Waldau, and Durand are the actors in the running for these roles.
Who will the villains be in the new movie besides the titular Winter Soldier? Perhaps the movie will feature some smaller named villains like Crossbones, the man who carried out the assassination of the Captain.
"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" will be hitting movie theaters on April 4, 2014.
