"No Man's Sky" is enjoying its first few days as the newest PlayStation 4 game in the block, and reviews have been positive. Hello Games' Sean Murray has taken to social media to thank fans for patiently waiting for years for the release of the game, and it seems that the wait was indeed worth it. Their servers were packed within hours of release.
"No Man's Sky" invites gamers to explore their procedurally generated universe comprised of quintillions of planets, making the journey unique for every gamer. We already discussed how to make more units (a.k.a. currency) in the universe in order to upgrade one's ship and trade valuable items in two parts, both of which can be read here and here.
However, exploring the multitude of planets in "No Man's Sky" requires not just currency, but weapons as well. Players must keep in mind that not all planets are warm and welcoming, and some may even be a threat to survival. So how does one navigate through these planets? You pack up on the weapons. Here's how.
One of the basic weapons in "No Man's Sky" is the Mining Beam, which is basically the starting point of one's Multi-Tool, from which a player can create more new weapons. The Mining Beam is pretty easy to use, just point and shoot to mine items from one's surroundings. However, players need to make sure that the Mining Beam isn't overused or else it overheats.
iDigitalTimes recommends not using the Mining Beam continuously. Instead, make sure to keep an eye on both the heat gauge that gets filled every time the weapon is used, as well as the ammo gauge that lets the user know how much ammo he or she has left. Once used up, Mining Beams can be charged using red elements called Isotopes. The Verge has a great list of resources based on the color of mineral (for example, iron, zinc, and titanium are yellow oxides).
In order to create weapons in "No Man's Sky," stack up on iron and plutonium, as players will need 12 of each to swap with various types of gear and technology to add on to the Multi-Tool. Same goes for grenades and boltcasters. Players must determine what exact resources or minerals must be mined in order to swap out with the gear to create such tools.
