GameStop president Tony Bartel reveals that upcoming first-person shooter video game, Call of Duty: Black Ops II has received a record amount of pre-orders, according to a report by IGN. The announcement was made in written statement.
Bartel said that "consumer anticipation for Call of Duty: Black Ops II is tremendous. We are seeing the highest pre-orders in history. With its current pace, this Call of Duty is on track to break records and is likely to be our biggest game launch of all time."
GameStop is offering a pre-order bonus that will net gamers the Nuketown 2025 bonus map, and access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops II Double XP Opening Weekend, which takes place Friday, Nov.16 through Sunday, Nov. 18.
GameStop looking to save some money on the game can receive 30 percent extra in-store credit when they trade any items toward the pre-order or purchase of Call of Duty: Black Ops II now through Dec. 16 according to GameStop.com.
Activision also announce that Call of Duty Elite will be free this time around and will offer gamers a way to track their multiplayer stats. Downloadable content will be available through the game's season pass or as individual DLC packs.
"We're bringing a full suite of Elite services to Black Ops II," Hirshberg said in a recent interview with IGN. "Our driving principle with this transition is to unite a wider Call of Duty community."
Call of Duty: Black Ops II developed by Treyarch will release on Nov. 13, for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows and on Nov. 18 for the upcoming Wii U.
