Square Enix and co-developer United Front Games announced at New York's Comic-Con that a new DLC game mode for the game Sleeping Dogs would arrive on Oct. 30 and is titled 'Nightmare in Northpoint,' according to a story first reported by Polygon.
The new DLC will feature new missions and will be horror-themed. The plot will feature a walking dead gang member and interpret zombie fiction through Chinese mythology, according to Polygon.
Polygon reports, "Nightmare in North Point tells the story of a gang member whom the Triad tortured and killed; here, he comes back to life with an army of the undead, and it's up to protagonist Wei Shen to take care of the threat."
The developers exhibited a demo of the new mode at the Comic-Con event that showcased Shen battling the possessed members of the 18K Triad gang. Polygon described the undead entities as having blue glowing eyes, and evaporating into a green mist once they are defeated.
The report also states that Shen has gained enhanced powers through a mystical herbal tea from an earlier mission that gives him the ability to battle these undead minions.
But there zombies won't be the only terrifying creature of the night, as the new DLC will also included the Jiang Shi - Chinese vampires. A creature that dwells in dark places such as caves and kills living creatures by absorbing their life essence. Shen must use a peach wood sword to defeat them. Polygon states, "according to Chinese lore, such blades were used in Taoist exorcisms."
The developers did announce the price for the new DLC, but according to a representative for Square Enix, "Nightmare in North Point will offer a few hours worth of content."
