Christina Grimmie fans are currently enraged over the Teen Choice Awards. Fans claim that the TCA used the late singer to promote the event but neglected to honor her in a tribute to victims of gun violence. To make matters worse, the star of The Voice was not mentioned throughout the show.
Why did the Teen Choice Awards omit Christina Grimmie from the tribute to gun violence victims? More importantly, why use the singer's name to get more tweets in social media?

The Teen Choice Awards seemed to have every intention to honor Christina Grimmie prior to the broadcast. The TCA official Twitter account had urged followers to vote for the singer for Choice Music Web Star. The post over 10,300 retweets and was favorited more than 5,400 times.
However, there was no mention of Christina Grimmie or the Choice Music Web Star throughout the Teen Choice Awards broadcast. The singer wasn't even part of the TCA's tribute to the victims of gun violence although she had died after being gunned down by an obsessed fan.

Teen Choice Awards' snub did not go unnoticed. Christina Grimmie's fans flooded social media with complaints and anger towards TCA. The singer's family also said that they are "definitely disappointed" by what happened.
"It seems they could have paid honor or tribute to her in some way and that opportunity was missed," a source close to Christina Grimmie's family told Entertainment Tonight. "The fans have a right to be upset."
But why did the Teen Choice Awards snub Christina Grimmie throughout the ceremony? Some believe that the use of the singer's name was a marketing ploy that did not reflect the TCA's intentions for the broadcast.
