The reports surrounding "Wayward Pines" Season 3 is filled with much controversy and issues, particularly with its airing date and its renewal. Also, reports have surged that FOX is having second thoughts of producing the sequel.
Despite the circulating rumors for "Wayward Pines" Season 3, FOX has not rendered any affirmation that it would cancel the series nor renew it. Even with the speculations of M.Night Shyamalan's revelations spawning fury is debunked as well.
What Shyamalan relayed was that the series is enclosed in a three-segment sage, which means that the closure of the series is looming ahead. A former post from Game & Guide has already revealed of the notions of FOX having doubts on releasing the renewal, "Wayward Pines" Season 3. Since the series was able to gain strong results, the fans are hopeful that it could be used as a gauge for FOX to affirm the renewal and air the next episodes.

According to the same post, the finale episode reached 2.3 million viewers and the 0.7 rating has led to heads turning for the series. Given the positive feedback from the viewers, it is highly anticipated that "Wayward Pines" Season 3 would return with stunning scenes and more horrific episodes.
In a different note, Parent Herald mentioned that FOX is rumored to cancel the series and replace "Wayward Pines" Season 3 with a spinoff segment instead. Even though there are rumors surrounding the segment, it does not imply that the series would never see the light of day.
