‘Pokemon GO’ Latest News & Update: New Upgrade Removes 3 Step Tracker With New Sightings Feature?

A "Pokemon GO" update was just released by Niantic Labs, which introduced some major improvements to the game. One such improvement was the introduction of a new feature called Sightings, but it is still currently under testing phase at the moment.

Niantic Labs announced in the game's official site a recent "Pokemon GO" update version 0.33.0 for Android and version 1.3.0 for iOS. In the update is a new feature called Sightings that is touted to replace the broken 3 Step Tracker, also known as Nearby, feature.

'Pokemon GO' Update Tests 'Sightings' Feature

In the "Pokemon GO" patch notes, Niantics announced that the company is "currently testing a variation of the 'Nearby Pokemon' feature with a subset of users. During this period you may see some variation in the nearby Pokemon UI."

This variation of the 3 Step Tracker feature is called as "Sightings" by GameStop. Apparently, the new "Pokemon GO" feature will be useful because it shows users the types of Pokemon in the area. But, rather than marking the estimated distance with the number of steps like in the 3 Step Feature, the new "Sightings" just displays the Pokemon on one's screen when they are in range.

'Pokemon GO' Update Warns Users Not To Play While Driving

Perhaps, as a response to the possible dangers posed by playing the game and driving at the same time, the new "Pokemon GO" update incorporates a warning dialog into the game. When the app detects that the trainer is travelling above a certain speed, a warning pops up to warn players that it is dangerous to drive and play at the same time.

Players who are just passenger may still continue to play the "Pokemon GO" game. They may confirm that they are not driving for the game to proceed.

'Pokemon GO' Update Allows Players To Change Nickname Once

Players may now be able to change the nicknames they first chose when they started playing the game. However, players are advised to use the name change feature wisely since the "Pokemon GO" update only allows changing of nicknames once.

At the moment, it seems that Niantic is still fine tuning the game to weed out some unforeseen bugs and glitches. With more updates expected to be on the way, stay tune to Game & Guide for the latest "Pokemon GO" news and alerts.
