‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News & Update: Twitch Banning Cheaters, Aids Niantic

Niantic has started to clamp down on “Pokemon Go” cheaters though the mission seems daunting. With millions of users already into the game, it may hard to pin down the culprits.

GPS spoofing and other ways to level up on “Pokemon Go” have been spreading with most applying a ‘pay-it-forward’ scenario. Some post videos on YouTube, others tips on social media sites like Reddit and some even streaming their hacks on Twitch.

Twitch to the rescue

With the many mediums that “Pokemon Go” cheats can go through, Twitch has decided to do its part by banning game cheaters from their site. Members found to be GPS spoofing will be given a ‘strike’, a strong message to help out fellow company Niantic. The official announcement can be found here.

How Twitch defines cheating

Twitch went as far to elaborate on how ‘cheating’ is defined. Per its guidelines, unofficial or modified software, playing with multiple accounts and sharing accounts are all considered illegal.

Tied up to that is the celebrated GPS spoofing on “Pokemon Go.” Falsifying a player’s real-world location and selling or trading their accounts will be grounds for punishment which could lead to bans.

Though it was not mentioned, Niantic will certainly be grateful on Twitch’s move with the crackdown on cheaters slowly taking shape. The company has yet to punish players despite the fact that there are already players who have cheated their way up.

As mentioned in a previous post, Niantic has started tightening their measures when they addressed the aid given by Pokevision last week. The third party app has now been rendered useless though there are still other apps (of lesser caliber) that can be used with risks involved.

“Pokemon Go” has a lot of issues on the table though it seems imminent that players bans will start happening soon. Twitch has taken the initiative in what should be a big help to Niantic.
