Niantic Labs is still busy cracking down on third-party trackers and tools that tap on the "Pokemon Go" servers and help players find Pokemon in a more convenient manner. Recently, PokeAdviser was reportedly blocked, which will again compel "Pokemon Go" trainers to find reliable alternatives or simply depend on the in-game tracker.
Niantic previously blocked PokeAdvisor's access to its "Pokemon Go" servers. Now, players who log into PokeAdvisor will receive an error message, stating that their account on the website has been blocked by the game creator. Before, PokeAdviser allowed "Pokemon Go" trainers to track their progress, as well as the progress of other trainers in other parts of the globe. "Pokemon Go" players could see their statistics, the individual values (IV) of all their Pokemon, a full Pokedex and community leaderboards, among others. With the recent blockage, PokeAdvisor users can no longer access these helpful information.
Reddit user lax20attack, the creator of PokeAdvisor, wrote about the issue on the official subreddit of his website. He stated that it appears that "Pokemon Go" servers stopped responding to his website. He is currently searching for a fix, but it seems to be the end of PokeAdvisor. He continued on Reddit that he is still looking into potential "Pokemon Go" solutions.
One of the approaches that he thought of involved open sourcing the code and allowing users to emulate it on their own servers. He added that the code is still functional at the moment and that the problems originated from the cloud hosting, which was banned from tapping into the "Pokemon Go" servers.
Heavy revealed that "Pokemon Go" trainers can still rely on a number of websites and tools that may help them progress in the game. PokeAssistant is a tool that indicates which Pokemon needs to be replaced. It is not as accurate as PokeAdvisor, but is a good substitute. Pokemon Manager is another tool that presents IV percentages and details, but it is not a mobile app.
GoStats is an Android app that lets "Pokemon Go" players check stats and various detailed information about their Pokemon and gameplay. GoIV is another Android IV calculator. Other good alternatives include PokemonGoProTips, which is an open source project that guides players how to locally track stats. IV Calculator and PogoBag are other ideal options, but Niantic is expected to ban some of these soon.
