Capcom has announced that the Darkstalkers franchise is returning and will be coming to the current generation of consoles in the form of combo pack called Darkstalkers Resurrection.
Resurrection contains the games, Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge and Darkstalkers 3. Darkstalkers Resurrection will be available for download in early 2013 for $14.99 on the PlayStationNetwork and 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360.
The two-for-one priced combo will not just be a re-release as Capcom has decided to add quite a few new features including "a robust GGPO-enabled online game play, HD graphical filtering with multiple viewing options, replay sharing, Spectator Mode, in-game achievements, Challenge/Tutorial Mode and an un-lockable vault filled with concept artwork, videos and more."
Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge is the first sequel in the Darkstalkers fighting game series and was released by Capcom in 1995 for the arcades. The game also released on Sega Saturn and on PlayStation 2 as part of a combo pack. The game introduces two new playable characters, Donovan Baine and Hsien-Ko, and the two boss characters from the first game, Huitzil and Pyron, became playable.
Darkstalkers 3 released in the arcades back in 1997 and added four new characters: Jedah, Lilith, Q-Bee and B. B. Hood. The game gets rid of the traditional round-based system in favor of a"Damage Gauge System, "where fighters have two life bars. The game also introduced the dark force system of special abilities.
According to Capcom, "Players who want to face-off against their friends online are able to with GGPO-enabled online game play that helps create a virtually lag-free fighting game experience. Building upon the online system previously introduced in Street Fighter® III: Third Strike Online Edition and Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, online game play now includes upgraded matchmaking with additional options such as region matching, ping lock and ping display."
The game will also allow players to share their replay videos directly to Youtube via the games match server. Watch the trailer below...
