Rashard Mendenhall rushed for 95 yards with two rushing touchdowns and the Steelers defense intercepted Matt Hasslebeck three times, sacked him four times and caused him to fumble once in Pittsburgh's 24-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans on "Thursday Night Football."
Pittsburgh only slithered by the Eagles last week and won by only 2-points against their in-state rivals, but the defense played well. Tonight against the Titans the defense played spectacular. The held Tennessee running back Chris Johnson to 34 yards on 20 carries with no rushing touchdowns.
The Titans were unable to move the ball against the Steelers and only gained 240 yards of total offense. The offense also committed four turnovers with two of them coming inside of Pittsburgh's 20-yardline.
Hasselbeck completed 20 of 32 passes for 189 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. Wide receiver Kendall Wright caught 7 passes for 50 yards and one touchdown. Kenny Britt only caught one pass for 6 yards.
Tennessee was shut out by Steelers defense in the second half, after playing a tightly contested first half where both team scored only ten points each.
The Steelers then created a two-score margin when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger fired a 46-yard touchdown pass to tight end Heath Miller with 6:30 left in the game to give Pittsburgh a 24-10 lead and effectively put the game away.
Roethlisberger was 24-of-34 passing for 289 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception that came early in the first half and lead to a Titan's field goal.
Mike Wallace had 8 catches for 76 yards for the Steelers as Pittsburgh outgained Tennessee 372-240 in total yards. Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown caught 10 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown.
