'Pokemon GO' Latest News, Release Date & Update: Niantic's New Patch Removes Battery Saver for iOS Users; Makes Catching Pokemon More Difficult

With great power comes great responsibility—a responsibility to churn out updates on the "Pokemon GO" game that has taken the world by storm. Niantic recently released the latest update for their best-selling game, but it seems that fans have been disappointed with what has become of their favorite pastime.

First of all, gamers noticed that it has been increasingly difficult to catch the magical monsters in "Pokemon GO," which means trainers had to invest more time, effort, and items to land a single Pokemon. Last Friday, Niantic took to Twitter to admit that a new bug had been affecting the throw accuracy, therefore increasing the odds of escape and eliminating the XP bonus, something that fans weren't happy about.

Eurogamer reports that another great feature, which is the batter saver, was also removed with the latest update, much to the chagrin of "Pokemon GO" gamers everywhere. Those who have long been playing the game know how much the app eats up phone battery, so it was a big disappointment to know that the battery saver function was removed without explanation.

Niantic did, however, take to Facebook to explain that some users were having trouble with the battery saver, which is why they decided to remove it in the meantime. The developer promised to fix it, and that it would come back "within the next several days."

Meanwhile, other noticeable changes in the latest "Pokemon GO" update include the removal of Pokevision and other third-party Pokemon tracking apps. According to VG247, Niantic CEO Jon Hanke wasn't so happy with the proliferation of such third-party apps that they had to cut access to the game so that these apps would stop working. For fans who utilized such apps, this was a disaster.

Other changes to "Pokemon GO" included new trainer customization that enabled gamers to edit their avatars even after they've been playing the game for a long time. Scanning radius has also been brought down to 70 meters from 100 meters, a safety move that Niantic undertook to discourage gamers from playing while driving or riding a bicycle.

Meanwhile, fans are still waiting for the next updates to bring back their favorite "Pokemon GO" functions, including the battery saver. Come back for more news updates soon.
