Sony announced that the God of War Ascension demo will be released and packed in with the "Total Recall: Director's Cut" Blu-ray, or the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.
The Blu-ray, and the God of War demo release on Dec. 18 and access to the demo is exclusive till March 8, 2013. The demo will be the E3 2012 God of War: Ascension Single Player demo.
Sony Product Marketing Manager Anthony Caiazzo wrote the following in a Blog post:
"Both Blu-rays feature the Extended Directors Cut, which includes 20 minutes of new footage not shown in theaters, including an alternate ending and over 1.5 hours of special features and Blu-ray exclusive content. The God of War: Ascension Single Player demo is available with this special offer on the Blu-ray hybrid disc. The demo includes the new gameplay mechanics and combat systems we showed off earlier this summer, so you can get a taste all of the brutal action before the game launches next March."
God of War: Ascension is the upcoming seventh installment in the God of War series and a prequel to the entire series. The game is being developed by SCE Santa Monica Studio and will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Ascension will release on March 12, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and is the first installment in the series to feature multiplayer and to be developed with Stereoscopic 3D.

"Six months after he was tricked into killing his wife and child, a younger Kratos finally finds a way to break the blood oath that binds him to the God, Ares. However oaths to Olympus are not so easily broken. After taking matters into his own hands, Kratos is sentenced to a life of madness with the Furies, caged in a titan sized prison for the living damned; Hectonchires. Fighting insanity, Kratos' will is tested as he seeks to break his bond and gain the clarity to seek revenge on Ares for his part in the death of his family."
This is not the first time Sony has released a God of War demo on a Blu-ray release. Back in 2009, the company released the God of War III E3 2009 demo with the release of the sci-fi film "District 9."
