Pangu tried to offer the Apple folks a potential jailbreak with that semi-tethered iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak which didn’t really pan out. In fact, some iPhone owners ended up with a compromised handset with their social and financial accounts getting breached.
The whole malware-related issue started with the English version that came out last week. But the problem was not tied up to Pangu or its hosting site 25PP. The belief that it could have stemmed from tools tied up to installing the iOS 9.3.3 semi-tethered jailbreak.
Water under the bridge
Regardless, the iOS 9.3.3 semi-tethered jailbreak was never a full crack to begin with. So, it was not really the one many were hoping for similar to the 9.3.1 crack.
It was seen nothing more but to buy Pangu some time for a full jailbreak. An iOS 9.3.2 jailbreak was nixed and now it looks like the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak will be following soon. Apple released iOS 9.3.4, a minor patch that no one really talked about until now.
Apple’s surprise small package
Following the final release of iOS 9.3.3, most were setting their sights on an iOS 10 coming. This was anticipated to be coming next month before the surprise revelation of iOS 9.3.4.
According to Forbes, iOS 9.3.4 is a minor update to address a certain issue. This had to do with an application which was able to execute an arbitrary code with kernel privileges. But more importantly, it addresses the Pangu iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak exploit which exposed the memory corruption vulnerability.
“A memory corruption issue was addressed through improved memory handling,” according to the Apple support page. iOS 9.3.4 is thus the fourth update to iOS 9.3 and could very well be the last one as Apple gears up for the iOS 10 expected to debut alongside the iPhone 7.
For Pangu, it technically means that their jailbreak lineup has been whittled down to an iOS 10 jailbreak unless they decide to work on an iOS 9.3.4 jailbreak which no one saw coming.Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more iOS 9.3.4 news and updates!
