NetherRealm Studio co-founder Ed Boon said at the EB Expo in Sydney that the upcoming fighting game set in the DC Comics universe, Injustice: Gods Among Us, will be getting its own comic book series, according a report by Polygon.
Speaking with Polygon at a demo of the game, Boon said that he'd like for NetherRealms' alternate take on the DC Universe to "carve its own niche."
"We're working on an InJustice comic book to carry the story and tell the events that came before the game," Boon said. "With a game like Mortal Kombat, so many things spawned from there, like the movie. Obviously the extreme version is it would spawn a lot more things, but I know for sure we are making an InJustice comic."
This wont be the first time comics are attached to the new game. The Injustice: Gods Among Us Collector's Editions will contain several extras including a 25cm tall statue of Batman and Wonder Woman, steelbook case, two issues of a brand new DC Comics series and three DCnU skins for Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is an upcoming fighting game featuring characters from the DC Universe and is being developed by NetherRealm Studios for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U and will be released in April 2013.
The game will have stages based on famous and iconic locations from DC comics such as the Batcave and Fortress of Solitude that feature multiple levels and various objects that the player can interact with. The DC characters have unique designs and look a lot different than their traditional comic book looks.
