Presidential Election 2012: Microsoft Says Xbox Live Users Selected Mitt Romney As The Debate Winner

Xbox Live users selected Mitt Romney as the winner of the first presidential debate of 2012, according to a report by the game website IGN.

Microsoft provided IGN with the statistics from polls the company conducting while live-streaming the debate on Wednesday night. A spokesperson for the company told IGN, "Romney was indeed a winner of last night's debate with the Xbox Live audience, despite what some of the raw, real-time numbers might have shown. We asked 10 questions during the debate to gauge who won exchanges or segments, and we found that 'undecideds' broke for Romney while Obama consistently lost support from his base."

According to the report Microsoft said 88 percent of people who voted on the Xbox Live polls during the debate are people likely to vote in the upcoming November election. The statistic also showed that 69 percent of those potential voters will "definitely talk" about their political position on the election to their social network connections.

Microsoft did not provide IGN with the exact number of Xbox Live user that tuned in to watch the live stream on the Xbox Election hub, but said "participation was strong and amazingly consistent throughout the entirety of the debate."

According to the report, "approximately 10,000 users have responded to daily polls on the Xbox Live Election hub, and participation in polls during the debate 'far exceeded this number.'"

Microsoft will be streaming the rest of the presidential debates including the vice presidential debate on Oct. 11. Xbox Live user that watch at least three of the four debates for 30 minutes or more will receive Halo 4 Warrior Armor for their Xbox Live Avatar.
