The final episode of "Wentworth" Season 4, "Seeing Red," left its viewers in a big shock for showing the death of a major character, Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack). However, Kate Jenkinson, who plays the role of Allie Novak, talked about the surprising incident and the coming of "Wentworth" Season 5.
Kate Jenkinson Talks About The Death Of Bea Smith
The production of "Wentworth" Season 5 already started on Aug. 1, but fans are still looking for some answers about what really happened to Bea Smith. There are swirling reports that imply she is really not dead as viewers of the show believe that it is quite impossible that Foxtel will kill a major character. In fact, the 36-year-old feels the same about the fate of Bea Smith.
In an interview with AfterEllen, Kate Jenkinson explained that she totally understand the reaction of "Wentworth" enthusiasts about the death of Bea Smith. She even said that she herself was surprised by the twists and turns of events and didn't see a major blow was about to come.
"I certainly didn't see it coming, and I don't think anybody did. I think my reaction was very similar to that of the fans when I first found out," she said. Kate Jenkinson even questioned how "Wentworth" Season 5 works out without the central character, Bea Smith.
'Wentworth' Executive Producer Confirms The Death Of Bea Smith
Meanwhile, Australia Network News reported that Foxtel took a major risk in killing the character of Danielle Cormick in "Wentworth" Season 4. Fans of the show are looking forward that "Wentworth" is just imitating the death of Jon Snow in "Game of Thrones" Season 5 and will bring Bea Smith back to life in "Wentworth" Season 5.
However, "Wentworth" executive producer Jo Porter ruined the fans high hope as he confirmed that Bea Smith is, indeed, dead, as per News Australia. "It is always an incredibly difficult decision to say farewell to a much-loved and revered character like Bea Smith. This decision was particularly hard as it meant also saying goodbye to Danielle Cormack," he said. "Wentworth" Season 5 is set to air in 2017.
