Niantic laid out a big whammy recently by addressing the illegal use of third party apps for its hit game, “Pokemon Go”. Third party-apps like “Pokevision” have now been grounded but that is not all that the company made.
‘Footprints’ covered for now
Like most games which render some bugs, Niantc has released patch 0.31 that technically took out two features. That included the ‘footprints’ issue which is better known to players as the ‘three-step’ glitch.
The flaw would show all nearby Pokemon in three-steps but the two and one steps never appear. Niantic has removed the footprints feature with the patch with no word on whether if it will be reinstated. With the removal of the buggy issue, “Pokemon Go” gamers will likely have a harder time tracking down the creatures.
Battery Saver features gone too
Aside from the footprints feature, the battery saver has been removed as well. This could be another problem for users as they will no longer have the liberty of knowing if their device may be running low on power. In an effort seen by many to address the battery consumption issue, the settings screen brightness has been lowered a bit though it remains to be seen if the move will help improve battery life.
On a brighter note, Niantic did give “Pokemon Go” players plenty of other improvements to look forward to. One was that players can edit their trainer’s look. Other than that, other changes worth noting include (per Game Spot):
- Improved memory issues
- Modified battle damage
- Bug fixes that occur during Pokemon encounters
- Updated Pokemon details screen
- Updated achievement medal images
- Improved gym animations
Patch 0.31 for “Pokemon Go” is welcome but the real disappointment for gamers is saying goodbye to “Pokevision”. Then again, this was an exploit that could end its run sooner or later so “Pokemon” hunters are still lucky they didn’t end up with a banned account.
