"Captain America: First Avenger," saw our hero sacrifice himself to save the world and Steve Rogers lost his true love because he was the ultimate soldier. When he awoke in modern times his life had passed him by and he became a loner. But it appears Marvel is looking to set Captain America up with a new leading lady.
Deadline is reporting that Marvel has a shortlist of actresses for a new significant role in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." The sequel's directors Joe and Anthony Russo are testing five actresses for the role including "Game of Thrones" Emilia Clarke, "Downton Abbey's" Jessica Brown Findlay, "I Am Number Four's Teresa Palmer," "Fright Night's Imogen Poots" and "Community's" Alison Brie, who has worked with the Brothers on "Community."
The role has not been announced but we can speculate that the characters will be Sharon Carter, who is the niece of Peggy Carter in the current Marvel universe. She is also an agent of SHIELD.
According to Marvel's wiki, In the comics, Rogers and Sharon's paths cross on many occasions with Rogers noticing the remarkable resemblance Sharon bore to his lost love Peggy. However the Captainbut was unable to make the connection between the two.
Deadline is also reporting that the Black Widow could be making an appearance in the new film. In the comics, the Black Widow has a role in the storyline of the Winter Soldier.
In the revised version of her origin, she is raised from very early childhood by the U.S.S.R.'s "Black Widow Ops" program. During the time of her training in the programs she is trained under Winter Soldier, and the pair even have a short romance.
